How To Start Loving Mondays

I’ve really enjoyed my two months covering a friend’s corporate class in London but it has made me think about Yoga in the workplace.  In many ways I feel like things like yoga, meditation and mindfulness get thrown into a corporate environment to make up for stress in the workplace.  Don’t get me wrong, these are great tools for stress management.  However, something doesn’t sit right when these practices are used as a sticking plaster to make up for a company which maintains an unhealthy culture.  Corporations need to address the culture which causes the stress in the first place as an hour of yoga at lunch time isn’t going to fix those problems.

I don’t meant that yoga in the workplace is a bad thing.  I even came up with a presentation to target employers, encouraging them to bring yoga into the workplace, and to train their employees to recognise and manage their stress.  But this only works if it is part of a holistic approach to employee wellbeing.

A friend of mine who is super happy where she works told me about what makes it so good – there is no blame culture, the staff aren’t expected to work late, staff are free to bring their kids to work if they have any childcare issues, or leave early or take time off without guilt.  They are encouraged to share something that they are grateful for with their colleagues daily.  All this alongside Yoga, Meditation and Mindfulness in the workplace.  And this comes from the top down – the CEO leads by example to create this positive working environment where everyone loves their job and prides themselves on getting their jobs done.

Anyway, I’ve decided I don’t want to be the Yoga teacher who helps you to manage your stressful job that you hate and makes you miserable.  I want to be the Yoga teacher and hypnotherapist who helps you to change your life for the better.  To take positive action towards the things that you want to do, the things that bring you joy.  It’s interesting to me that three of my Happy Healthy clients are now pursuing their dream jobs, taking positive action towards their goals.  I did it, they are doing it and you can too!

Get in touch if you want to talk more about this with me.

Be warned, I might help you to escape the rat race.
